Täsch — the handover point. Zermatt's village core is closed to combustion cars, so every rental is collected or delivered in Täsch, four kilometres below. Parking here is straightforward and the transfer up is short, making Täsch the practical base for any stay rather than a detour.

The Matter Valley road, Stalden to Täsch. The approach road climbs steadily through the valley, narrow in places and demanding in winter. An AWD saloon or SUV handles the gradient and occasional snowfall without drama, which is the main reason clients book four-wheel drive for a ski week rather than a coupé.

The Rhône Valley at the valley mouth. Where the Matter Valley opens into the Rhône plain near Visp, the road straightens and widens. This stretch is where GT and convertible bookings make sense in summer — open corners, longer sightlines, and a change of scenery from the alpine walls above.

Saas Valley. A parallel valley reached via Stalden, less trafficked than the road to Zermatt itself. Clients renting for a longer alpine stay sometimes split time between the two valleys; the drive between them is a useful test of an AWD car's low-speed handling on tighter switchbacks.

Simplon Pass

Simplon Pass. For guests extending south toward Italy, the pass road out of the Rhône Valley is a full mountain drive — sustained climbing, hairpins, and a summit crossing. It suits a car booked for driving pleasure rather than pure transfer, and is best planned outside heavy winter snowfall.
