Bernina Pass. An open-top run for the summer months, with the Bernina's switchbacks and glacier views best suited to a convertible or a car with real mid-corner poise. Roadside pull-offs are limited, so plan stops rather than improvising them.
Maloja Pass. The descent toward Val Bregaglia and the Italian border is tight and stacked with hairpins — a route where a shorter wheelbase and confident brakes matter more than raw power. Traffic builds midday in high season.
Via Serlas and the village core. St. Moritz's lakeside shopping street rewards a car that looks right parked outside a hotel entrance for an hour. Valet and hotel forecourt space is common here, which suits low-slung coupés better than an SUV.
Engadin valley villages
Engadin valley villages. Zuoz, Sils and Silvaplana sit along the valley floor with slower speed limits and chalet-lined main streets. Good territory for an unhurried afternoon drive rather than a performance run.
Zurich to St. Moritz transfer. Most guests arrive by this route, and an AWD SUV handles the elevation change and any early or late-season weather with less drama than a rear-wheel-drive car. Delivery to the airport or directly to a St. Moritz hotel can be arranged.
